How to create additional UPI IDs using Google Pay

Google Pay is one of India’s most popular UPI apps and charges zero fees on financial transactions. Even if the receiver does not have Google Pay, the money will still reach their bank account. From paying utility bills to sending money to your parents to online shopping, Google Pay does it all. 

How to create a UPI ID on Google Pay?

To create a UPI ID, download the app on your phone from Play Store or App Store. Then follow these steps:

  • Sign in to the Google Pay app on your smartphone
  • Tap on your photo located on the top right corner of the screen
  • Select ‘Payment Methods’ from the options available
  • Choose the bank account you would like to link to your UPI ID
  • From the options in the drop-down menu, select ‘Manage UPI IDs’ and tap on the '+' sign to create a new UPI ID
  • Select your password; this is needed to transact using your UPI ID

How to create an additional UPI ID through Google Pay?

Now that you know how to create a UPI ID, you can go ahead and make up to four UPI IDs linked to the same bank account.

To create an additional UPI ID with the same bank account, do this:

  • Open the Google Pay app to make a payment 
  • Tap on your photo on the top right corner of the screen
  • Choose ‘Payment Methods’ and tap on the bank account of your choice
  • Then select ‘Manage UPI IDs’; there would be multiple IDs to choose from 
  • Tap on the '+' sign to create a new UPI ID 
  • To delete an ID, tap on the ‘Delete’ option or the bin symbol as shown

To create a UPI ID with another bank account, perform the following steps:

  • Open the Google Pay app on your mobile device
  • Tap on your picture at the top right corner of the screen
  • Tap on ‘Payment Methods’; your primary bank account details would be shown along with a tab of ‘Add Bank Account’
  • Decide which bank account you would like to add to your UPI ID and tap on ‘Add Bank Account’
  • Decide which bank account you would like to add to your UPI ID and tap on ‘Add Bank Account’

  • Next, you will need to ‘Verify’ your bank account

  • Open Google Pay on your mobile
  • Tap your display photo on the top right corner 
  • Tap on ‘Bank Account’
  • Choose the bank account whose UPI ID details you want to see
  • The associated UPI ID will be under the option ‘Manage UPI IDs’
