Here are some misconceptions regarding working moms that make their lives even difficult and are just aren't true

Debunking 7 myths about working moms

Being a mom who juggles work and raising tiny humans is hard work, any which way you look at it. The misconceptions and stereotypes surrounding working moms make their jobs even harder. Don’t judge these amazing women; instead, give them the support they need.

Here we call out seven myths for what they are – myths!

1) Working mothers do not dedicate enough time to their kids

They do! Out of 24 hours, they probably work 8-9 hours; the rest of the time is spent with their kids. Nowadays, most companies provide flexible work hours and work-from-home options to mothers with young kids, so they get to spend more time nurturing their kids.

2) Moms who work are not reliable

On the contrary, working moms are ninjas who not only excel at work, but also at taking care of their families. They build a ‘team’ that helps them raise their babies beautifully, whether it is getting help from grandparents or hiring a full-time nanny. Credit also needs to be given to the modern dads who have ditched traditional roles and are equally involved in raising the children.

3) Their kids are ignored and have behavioural issues

Working mothers raise independent and empathetic kids. The kids grow up seeing that women and men are equal, which instils respect for women. Working mothers are role models for young boys and girls alike. These kids learn to be self-reliant and independent early.

4) Working moms look down upon stay-at-home moms

They most definitely do not! And neither do stay-at-home moms judge mothers who work. Women understand that raising a kid, though rewarding, is challenging. They are empathetic towards each other. Some women choose to be with their kids 24x7, while others prefer to juggle a career with motherhood. Neither approach is right or wrong.

5) Office duties come at the cost of domestic responsibilities

Staying on top of work at both office and home may come at the cost of their sleep, but working mothers do their best to do justice to both. They understand the need to spend time with their partners and fulfil other familial obligations. And they don’t shy away from seeking help in successfully accomplishing both jobs.

6) They take up a career to avoid housework

No one works, takes up a career to avoid work at home! Working in an office is no cakewalk. Stress, deadlines, pressure from the boss – all form a part of one’s daily life. Besides, working moms contribute to household work as much as they can.

7) Working moms are depressed because they cannot give 100% to either role

If anything, working moms lead a contented life. They have job satisfaction as well as the joy of motherhood. They have more self-worth and are independent, confident individuals.

Balancing the two roles is admittedly tough. The struggle is real. But women are awesome and proven multitaskers. If anyone can be badass at work AND at home, it’s them.
